Ween in Central Park

I went to my first Ween show in what seemed like ages. I caught the Gene Ween Band when they came through New York last time, and while that was a fun show, it’s not Ween. My friend Bill had noticed that this show fell on his birthday, and he had never seen Ween live, so it pretty much had to happen.
As we walked up to Rumsey Playfield (Central ParkSummerstage) on Friday September 17th, 2010, I was shocked – SHOCKED – at the length of the line leading up to the venue. Like can’t see the end of the line long. Since they were already playing Buckingham Green (why were they playing when there was still a huge line, this part was crazy), we did the asshole thing and cut into the line. Sorry everyone behind us, that was a total dick move but I really had to pee. Like super bad.
Ween was in top form, they were only able to play from 7:30 until 10pm, and they made the most of it. PS why do they shut down at 10pm in central park?
I only recorded one song on my phone, a cover of David Bowie’s Let’s Dance. Here it is.

Oh, that’s my friend Jon (we ran into him) shouting “Booze Me Up!” right as the clip starts. The guy recording next to us might be unhappy with us. I hope he was using unidirectional mics.

Best offhand comment of the night by Gener, when handed that glowing glittery sword you see someone flipping around, “Oh, thanks for the Flaming Lips shit.”

The poster from the show (used in the header) is was available from JermaineRogers.com.
