I was having a discussion of China and Censorship of the Interwebs, and since I’ve never actually tried to see what sort of search results one would get from, say, Google’s search in China versus the US search, I thought I’d give it a try. It’s actually pretty different for anything related to criticism of China or Chinese politics and events. This is probably the biggest example:

The US version:

http://www.google.com/search?q=tiananmen+square

The Chinese version:

http://www.google.cn/search?q=tiananmen+square

Sure, there’s a language bias, since the pages on the Chinese site are assuming you want some form of Chinese as your default language, but I don’t think that explains away the huge difference in results. If you set the preferred results language on the US site to Chinese (Traditional) and Chinese (Simplified) the content of the results is still in line with the English results.

My sprint EX720 was updated to firmware 159/PRL 60751 about 2 weeks ago, and now I have nothing but problems. Before that is was fine.

Now, when I sleep, the computer sleeps. If I wake from sleep, work for a bit, then sleep again, it refuses to sleep (or restart or shut down) and there are log entries in the system log about the device being removed improperly.

I have a Dell M1330 with the EX720, running Vista Ultimate x64. When it gets hung up I have to do a hard restart, if I try to shut down it hangs on the “Shutting Down…” screen indefinitely. If I disable the cellular card in the BIOS, I can sleep all day, over and over with no problems.

Would love to know if anyone else is experiencing this. It’s a drag because I sleep my machine many times a day.

Cato spammed me today. They want me to give money for a full-page ad. Then they encouraged me to run this banner on my site:

It looks like a banner from 1999, but what the heck.

This is just a note to state that Y’allStore.com sells bootlegged merchandise. Ironic, as most of their purchases, I assume, are used for bootlegging. I ordered an R4 SDHC for homebrew use (not bootlegging) and I was sold a fake. Turns out there isn’t a legitimate R4 SDHC, they are all knockoffs of the original R4 that don’t actually do anything except display “loading…” even with the enclosed SDHC card that they sell in the package.

The took two weeks to ship my product, then when you contact YallStore for resolution, they are completely unresponsive. All of this is designed to take you past the 30 day return policy. In addition, if you pay with Paypal, you won’t be covered by Paypal’s “protection” policy. Their policy only covers shipping, so I guess they chould ship you a box of dog excrement and as long as they have a shipping record, that’s all that matters.

That’s all. Avoid YallStore.com / Y’allStore, buyer beware, etc.
